Anchorage …last days
Firstly, the snow shoe pictures finally came (only after some gentle prodding from me…well, not exactly gentle. I was sitting next to Lynne( whose camera had the wanted pics) on the bus, and I said…”Lynne, could I possibly have your phone so I can email some pictures to me”) . And here they are….

The snow shoes were a lot of fun… there was also a full sized stuffed moose to say hello to.

Also, while at Borealis Basecamp, the tour had organised for a photographer to attend to capture the Northern Lights. Well he had nothing to do on the first night, apart from dealing with a mad woman who felt sure she had received an Aurora Alert. However, his services were needed on the second night and these were emailed to us yesterday.

Anchorage is the biggest city in Alaska, with a population of around 400,000 (including the outskirts). The city doesn’t really rev up for summer until early April so I contented myself with the museum, a long walk, a trolley tour ( on a bus not a trolley because trolleys can’t operate until the ice has completely disappeared ) and a live show based on nursery rhymes (ok, I know that sounds like something aimed at children but it was nevertheless funny).
Liked these bears in the museum and the museum guide was happy to take my photo as there werent many visitors that day.

Thought these signs were interesting…

The museum had some great interactive tools which I played with. So I learnt about earthquakes, wind currents, the sky, air pressure etc etc.
On the trolley tour, I got to meet Snowzilla who wasn’t in perfect condition because snow melts, doesn’t it!

And here are some of the characters from “Mother Goose on the loose”

Time to sign out until next holiday
