Lake St Clair

A long walking day

After a delicious buffet breakfast (they make the most superb cinnamon buns), Jon picked up us and we drove to the Visitors centre for the start of our walk to Shadow Lake.

We walked through lichen-festooned rainforest, highland yellow gum forest, snow gum woodland and subalpine moorland to reach Shadow Lake. A technical walk through many roots, mud, fallen trees and uphill for most of the morning until we reached Shadow Lake.

Very pleased and tired to reach Watersmeet where two rivers meet at the end of the 13 km walk.

A lovely three course dinner before retiring to bed to rest our weary limbs.
