June 25: Antibes
Rob and I decided to go for an early morning walk. It was already very hot – around 27 degs ( it got to over 30 degs). Nicky had given us directions for a walk to the beach, going under the train station, which would take us about 20 minutes. So, we got the direction right for about the first 3 minutes and then went completely off course. We managed to find the beach after about 1 and a half hours!!!

The big white building behind me has an interesting shape but doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the landscape. We finally made it home, hot and tired. This called for a swim. And fortunately there is a lovely pool seconds away!

Rob and Nicky went to the shops to find a fresh baguette for lunch, but Rob – who wanted to practise her french – also procured some pastries . And her french must have been ok because look what she came home with….

Time to give the fresh baguette and pastries a whirl!

And what does one need after a sumptuous lunch? You guessed it, an afternoon rest.
Late in the afternoon, Nicky took us on a scenic drive into the mountains, to a place called Coursegoules. Magnficent and dramatic scenery. Stepped mountains, jagged rocks with sweeping views along the coastline.

We then drove back towards Antibes, to find the charming town of Saint-Paul de Vence. This village was fortified during the 14th and 16th centuries. Its hillside location and temperate climate made it a centre for flower growing and winemaking. Today, it is a place of art. Full of character.

Above are blocks of different fruits. The cemetery is the place where Marc Chagall is buried.

There were large sculptures everywhere, including this huge bird and a funny looking birds nest to the right of Robyn and Nicky.

We had dinner overlooking the valley and coastline.

A really lovely day!

Looks stunning, especially the pastries!!!!!!
Needed a banana in pastry picture, for scale. 😀
What beautiful landscape! And what a busy day you had – no wonder you needed an afternoon rest! Please ask Nicky if she knows where
La Bouboule is. I was sent there for my health as a child. I think it’s 3000 ft. above sea level
Keep on enjoying and love to Robyn xxxx

So beautiful ♥️ The kids must be missing you terribly! They are probably crying to their parents, and having meltdowns while you are smiling, eating, and having the time of your life!
