June 24: Aragon to Antibes
Packed up the chateau and Jim and I travelled to Carcassonne station.
But before we left, I managed to coax a sort of smile out of Eva, and a picture of the chateau’s back yard.

For a major tourist location, Carcassonne station is remarkably non-user friendly. The only way to reach the platforms is to descend or ascend stairs, which can be challenging with any sizeable suitcase. There are no lifts to assist you (unlike other stations).
The trip to Antibes took 6 hours, with a change of trains at Marseille. The last hour or so of the trip winds its way along the coastline with beautiful views of the water, the many and massive yachts, the odd hang glider and lots of swimmers. The last stop before Antibes is Cannes (yes, the place which hosts a famous film festival) and the yachts there are something to behold.
Arrived at Antibes to be greeted by Nicky and Robyn ( hooray, finally Robyn says “Bonjour”).
The contrast between Aragon, with its medieval feel, and Antibes, which is a bustling seaside resort, could not be more stark.
Nicky has a really gorgeous townhouse ( that’s not the correct description but that’s what we might call it in Australia) in a gated community with lovely grounds full of flowers. Her verandah overlooks a lovely pool and it was too enticing not to have a swim, particularly when the temperature is around 29 degs.

Spoiled with another yummy dinner tonight, sitting on the verandah…..spinach tart, salad, tomato and bocconcini, cheese and of course, a baguette.
