What’s the first thing that the Merck girls do when they get together?
yes, you guessed it…. Eat, drink and be merry!
This time, we are somewhere in the Hunter Valley…our accommodation, which can sleep up to 20 people, has enabled us to each have our room (although we do have to share 3 bathrooms. The property is in the middle of nowhere but we do have a pool, a trampoline and two sweet horses.
It’s not quite up to the 7 star luxury of Werri Beach which looked like this….
However, it’s not the standard of accommodation that’s important, it’s the company and how much food one can devour over a couple of days.
Small hitch in our arrival time…. The cleaners had failed to turn up, so they quickly organised some other cleaners while we sat outside
After devouring 3 packets of chips, several gin and tonics, and delicious salmon dip, it was time for the allocated cooks, Penny and Zarli to do their thing while Nell focussed on making the perfect gin and tonic
Lisa and Lesley were obviously having a serious discussion…. It was probably about the state of US politics, or where to go for the next holiday
Time for dinner….a yummy chicken bake (with optional coriander!) followed by magnificent quince pie
In her usual fashion, Penny surprised us all with our own personally named bottle holders, so we can really look schmick when we turn up to our next party ( at which we will be wearing the socks with pictures of the Merck girls, also courtesy of Penny).
Then time for some serious conversation…..should Lesley get a tattoo? What happens when you have too much Botox? What really happened at those Merck sales meetings or medical conferences? How many grams of protein in a cup of yoghurt? After exhausting a range of serious topics, it was time to play Telestrations. Best drawers were definitely Nell and Penny but Marg won the evening with her drawing of a stool pigeon….need I say more??
